When is a vacation possible?
Most patients can travel again about 4–6 weeks after breast augmentation. For air travel: The pressure difference in the cabin is usually not a problem as long as you wear your compression garments and drink enough fluids.
For beach holidays with lots of sun, many surgeons even recommend waiting 8–12 weeks – especially if you plan to spend a lot of time in a bikini. The reason: Your scars should be healed enough that UV radiation can no longer permanently discolor them.
Packing list: What belongs in the suitcase
- Compression bikini : The most important companion. It keeps the tissue stable and protects against the sun.
- Sunscreen with a high SPF: For all areas not covered by the bikini.
- Loose clothing: Tight tops and dresses can be uncomfortably tight.
